There are four qualities considered for grading: Cut, Color, Clarity & Carat, “The 4 C’s.”
The CUT is most important. Whatever your budget, always choose the highest cut, VG (very good) or better.
The second most important quality is COLOR. The less color, the higher the grade it receives.
CLARITY refers to the imperfections. Always choose a diamond that is eye clean.
CARAT weight measures the diamond’s weight, not the size. The cut impacts how large the weight of the diamond appears. A smaller diamond appears larger with a higher cut grade. Consider choosing a stone just under your desired weight (1.9ct, instead of 2.0 ct) to maximize your budget. Certified (GIA or EGL-USA) stones are graded by a Gemologist and will cost more than non-certified stones.
Now, let’s find you the perfect diamond!
